[DeTomaso] Fuel Odor

5) charcoal canister saturated with fuel vapors. There¹s no way it¹s going
to absorb fuel smells for 40+ years. At some point, it¹s got to leak more
vapors than it absorbs. Remove it. Not needed.
6) non-working PCV
7) my favorite. I drove the 427 Cobra to Arkansas last week. When I got
in the car to leave, it wouldn¹t start. I thought it might be flooded,
since I wasn¹t sure hot to start in the cold. It wasn¹t COLD in Arkansas,
but it was much colder than Miami. So, I opened the hood and there was a
pinhole in the fuel filter squirting fuel on the distributor. Apparently,
the fuel screwed up something in the distributor. I¹m not sure really.
Rather than diagnosing the MSD on the road, I switched to old school -
points and everything. At any rate, that explains why I kept smelling
gasoline. I thought it was the fuel tank vent. Now, it doesn¹t stink,
and it gets another 1-2 MPG.
