[DeTomaso] suggestion re: vibration

No, there isn’t a huge difference in Weight. I now stock both versions for people that do not want to run adaptors.

There are benefits for both versions. Maintenance is way easier with the adaptor version. They are also easier to install and less expensive to buy. So there is still a prominent place for the units that run adaptors.

On the other hand, if your ZF is out, upgrading to the CV output shafts would be a nice change. With that change the axles are about 1.5 inches longer. The 6 Bolt CV Flange for the stub axles are also pretty cool BUT, many people don’t want to have to remove the center axle nut. For some reason people believe that job is extremely difficult so they would rather run with adaptors. Tightening and loosening the center Axle Nut is actually very easy if you have the right tools.

And then there are folks that just like the looks of an installation without adaptors.

So it seems everyone has their own preferences based on their own goals.

Both setups are vastly superior over the stock half shafts in my opinion. (not looking for a debate on that subject) 😊

Interesting last paragraph as I have always thought this to be the holy grail of a CV axle upgrade.

Is there a significant weight difference between the old (adapter) and new style (no adapter)?

The current axles are the correct length. In fact, they have been for YEARS.

When we first started selling CV Axle assemblies we simply resold a unit made by another company. Yngve was one of our first customers. In fact, he discovered the issue and let us know.

After Yngve reported the issue, I attempted to install the other set I had on my Pantera and discovered the axles were indeed to long. When we brought up the issue to the maker of the CV Axle assembly they told us that they were fine and wouldn't listen to the fact that Yngve's and mine were too long. Since the company that made them didn't believe there was an issue, we stopped selling their setup and created our own kit. The company that made them wasn't a Pantera Vendor but for some reason, they thought they knew more about Pantera's than an actual owner and vendor.

I don't know where Thomas got his CV setup from or when it was but I don't show he ever purchased a set from SACC Restorations. The company that was selling the kit with the wrong length axles has a very similar name to SACC.

Anyway, long story short, our axles are custom made specifically for the Pantera. We do not buy "off the shelf off road axles" and then shorten them like some companies do. That is what was happening with the original axles because the shortest off-road axle was 20mm to long so they got shortened. SACC Restorations has been having custom Pantera Axles made for years now.

We also have a kit that doesn't use adaptor's that hasn't been announced yet. That kit comes with new 6 bolt CV Flanges for the Pantera Stub Axles and new 6 Bolt CV Output Shafts for the ZF.

Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Thanks, Scott

We also have a kit that doesn't use adaptor's that hasn't been

Pantera Stub Axles and new 6 Bolt CV Output Shafts for the ZF.
Let me know if anyone has any questions.
