[DeTomaso] Preparing a car for long term storage

Hi Charles,
Put car on frame jacks to keep tires round and it away from lives problems,
lower tires to less than normal pressures to keep plies from separating,
have tank and carb as low on fuel as possible and do add fuel stabilizer,
try to run carb dry,
place a large desiccant sock bag in a pail in car/trunk to keep moisture/fungus low,
attach bags of mice/rodent dehydration food to jack stand/body points to keep Mickey away,
spray bolt/nut heads and metals that may rust with oil or vaseline to deter corrosion,
cover exhaust outlets with plastic after placing rolled up paper towels into exhaust bores,
best would be a pressurized storage bag with all above.

I always thought that I would connect a large cylinder of nitrogen to the fuel tank vent hose and cabin. Then leave the valve open slightly so nitrogen would flood the fuel tank to keep air and static fuel from becoming unhomogenized olefins and causing fuel tank damage and also the cabin would stay fresh.

Take care,
Jeff Cobb
