[DeTomaso] Help me find my 1974 Blue Pantera

Respectfully, I think you were provided a lead in a previous response. As there were reportedly only 69 Blue Pantera's in 1974 and knowing the selling dealer location and approximate purchase date you should be able to narrow it down to one if not a couple VIN numbers. With VIN information you stand far greater chance of success. I strongly suggest you follow up with Marti Auto and get back to us!

The FAQ's section of Marti Auto states the following (which could have been written for YOU!);

Q: Can you provide a VIN (Vehicle Identification number, serial number) for a car that I once owned in an effort to relocate the car? All of my records that contain the VIN are destroyed.

A: If you can provide enough information about the original car, sometimes it is possible, through the process of elimination to determine the serial number of a vehicle. At the least, we would need information like what city (and preferably what dealer) the car sold in originally. Without that, it is unlikely we could determine the serial number. We would also need to know everything else that you are sure of about the car (e.g. color, interior color, options). The cost for doing a search like this is $100 and includes a copy of the deluxe report for the car. Please note we do not locate cars and do not have information on the original owner.

Have no leads to find this car originally bought in 1974 at Tasca Ford/Mercury in Providence, RI. I know the buyer moved to FL in the 1980s. Any FL Pantera owners who may have seen this car? I will follow any lead. Thank you very much for your help.

  Failing that ping me on Friday and I should be able to find them.

Dave,

I have photos showing the production line in early 1972. In the photo some of th
e cars got black decklid and hood undersides, while others were painted satin bl
ack. One were GTS. It's difficult to know from the photos if there was a spec
ific scheme (i.e. all cars of color X got black and color Y got body color...)
