Some states exempt anything after 20 yrs.
AFAIK Federal law trumps State law. So AFAIK you can't import a car from overseas that was never "federalized", meaning crash testing and such, not just emissions, until it is 25 yrs old.

I was not there but my sources who were present mentioned an incorrect clock, incorrect headliner color and fabric, custom holes in the mesh engine cover, custom decklid vents, incorrect rear tires, and other small changes.
The car apparently looked very nice in person so someone should be very proud to own it.
A good sales price and health signal of the Detomaso market.
