[DeTomaso] Fwd: Are all the suspension arm bushings the same size?

The thinking at the time was that the thin sheet metal which makes up the A arm is easily bent if too much force is applied trying to get the old bushing out. (Or I imagine if the outer sleeve is seized to the A arm, the round opening in the A arm could be distorted / destroyed even if a press were used exactly correctly.)

Yes, it was a pain getting the rubber out of the outer sleeve. But after 40 years the rubber isn't bonded all that well to the metal anymore. :)

Yes, they are all the same, however I am perplexed by the statement that your replacement bushings are designed to fit in the sleeves of the originals, as the rubber in those is bonded to the inner and outer, so you would have to torch the rubber out? That seems a hokey half-ass solution to a problem that doesn't exist!

Wilkinson's website shows the same part number for all the bushings, upper and lower, front and rear, so I guess that confirms it

Thanks

I replaced my rear A-arm bushings a while ago, and now the fronts need to be done.

I have graphite-impregnated urethane bushings from when I ordered a set back then, but are the front bushings different from the rear ones? Pantera East doesn't seem to have a website anymore.

PPC's parts seems to imply they are, but does anyone know for sure?

(I have the ones that are sized to go inside the outer sleeve of the old bushing, in case you were wondering.)

Thanks,
Jim
