I switched to Lucas gear oil in my Hewland, I was stripping gear teeth on an all too frequent basis with the Redline Shockproof I was using.

Some partial truth; BP took Royal Purple to task for false advertising of increased HP gains, engine longevity etc. by conducting independent tests with the two manufacturers oils.
I use Amsoil fairly exclusively in both my race and street cars, they have high zinc Z-Rod blends for classic cars with flat tappet cams. An annual $20 will get you into their preferred customer program with discounts, plus they will have $4.95 or free ship incentive occasionally, so that's when I usually stock up!

I have heard that Royal Purple was charged with consumer fraud by a District Attorney for selling oil that were of different viscosities but actually were all the same viscosity.
I do not know if this is a false rumor, (ie...fake news) or is factual information.
I don't see any supercar manufacturers using Royal Purple in their machines though.
Mi dos centavos.
