[DeTomaso] A couple great deals on Chraftsman tool sets.

Agreed on Sears business model, they recently closed the store here in Reno. Craftsman tools are not what they once used to be, but they are not a Sears owned brand having been sold to Stanley Black & Decker in 2017. Summit Racing sells Craftsman Tools and with the rapid demise of Sears stores Lowes are now carrying the brand too, although I'm not sure others offer the deep discount sales that Sears were offering.

I got a lot of my large hand tool kits, tool chest etc. during sale periods and for the most part they have performed very well for the $$ outlay. But I'm more inclined to do the online research now and find alternate brands with good ratings. That said most people write the review out of the box, not 10 years down the road stating this has been a great tool. It's a throwaway society now unfortunately and coming from an background where we made do I can't usually come to terms with that wastage and end up spending a day fixing something I could replace for $100!

>From online reviews warranty claims for Craftsman, Kobalt and other so called "lifetime Guarantee" are hit and miss, more dependent on who you get in the store and how much stink you want to create.

Hi Ken,

Many of the Craftsman tools are now made in China and of similar quality to Harbor Freight.

Also, Sears has been following the new official American corporate business model (make a great name for yourself and then cut costs to maximize profits until the business can no longer function). They will be out of business soon so the warranty is useless.

Regards,
George

These sets are a fraction of the cost of the individual tools:

The long ball-end hex sockets are very useful, and probably worth the price alone.
