"Rich" is in the eye of the beholder?
Factor in the purchasing power of $1 in 1974 vs. 2018, this person is just about breaking even if the car sells @ $120K.
Which is not too bad, really, considering as a whole "cars as investments". A very small percentage of cars are capable of escaping the merciless vortex of inflation.
So, here you have it, clear as day: You buy a zippy car in 1974, drive it for a few months, park it for 45 years based on speculation that you will at least break even on a long term investment that has provided you (and others) with precious little fun other than having possession of an "art piece" under a cover inside your garage.
Makes no sense to me whatsoever. In terms of what is truly valuable about living life, one would have to chalk this venture up as a net loss.
May the buyer of this car not be a similar kind of fool. May he/she choose to dive into the cockpit and spin the clock on that sucker.
