I have used Napa replacement center cable ... But if shield is damaged in side or kinked the cable will break again.

Bud #3400 ( Drive it like there is no tomorrow -- for there may not be ! )

Just had my speedo cable break, about in the middle of the square end that
enters into the gauge; I suppose the other part of the square wire is still
in the gauge.
I was wondering about possibilities of repairing this without the need of
taking replacing the whole cable and routing a new one.

1) seen a comment that this little part could possibly be welded back onto
the cable; seems it would be a tedious task?

2) Did someone use any of the generic core replacement, such as this
https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/atp-yc101/applications
In theory it would be easiest to do by just sliding old core out and new in,
cutting to length and crimping new end, but not sure if actual dimensions
would work with our gauge or ZF drive....

Thanks for suggestions; hope there is a simple way to fix this!
