[DeTomaso] Fuel tank return for electric fuel pumps?

The installation of a fuel pickup for my fuel injection system is
configured as Garth described, assembled using the pickup, shut off valve
from Home Depot, plumbed in feeding to an Essex filter and fuel pump.
The fuel pressure regulator return uses the original stock fuel pickup, a
pretty basic installation.
As pointed out by Garth, I use the valve as a secondary anti theft device.
As I exit the car, I reach down and "nonchalantly" close the valve.
While I initially worried about the exposure of the pickup assembly to
possible damage from debris or snagging on something, it hasn't been a
problem.
For those interested, the my initial tear down and rebuild diary is
available on:

A A Benefits of the Groco valve are...
A A 1. It doesn't restrict fuel flow like a Banjo fitting - it
never ceases

A A connected to a restrictive banjo fitting that likely has a 1/4"

A A 2. You can close the valve if you ever need to remove your

no
A A futzing around with clamps or vice grips to try and stem the
flow of
A A fuel from the tank if you ever need to perform one of these
tasks.
A A AND, it serves as a great anti-theft device as well.A If
someone
A A manages to hotwire the car, they won't get more than a few
yards down
A A the street before it'll run out of gas.
A A Here are a couple of links to the valve - I have the stainless
version.
A A I imagine brass would be just fine too.
