[DeTomaso] Piston TDC tools???

   Ken,
Seems to me there should be some out there with the blunt-nose and not
threaded all the way. If you have one threaded all the way, I see no
problem in grinding it down and filing it smooth at the very last
   quarter-inch.
It's a simple idea, to stop the piston. It doesn't have to be at the
tippy top, it can be a little before TDC. Make sure you are gentle
when rotating the crank so you don't slam into the stop. You want to
thread the stop in, then rotate to the stop, mark your damper, then
rotate the other way and mark again. TDC should be equal distance
between the two marks. You can rinse and repeat a few times, backing
out the stop screw a little bit each time, and each set of new marks
(just use pencil) should be closer and closer to TDC.
Let us know how you make out. :)

Want to confirm TDC and looking at piston stops that screw into the
spark plug holes. Most have threads to the end that contacts the
piston. Seems like this could scratch the piston top? Would it hurt
to grind off the last 2 or 3 threads to leave a somewhat smooth surface
   to run the piston against?
   Thanks.
   Ken
