One of my friends in CA ran a turbo-Corvair in his Porsche 912 without any muffler, for years on the street that way. The turbo is a good sound-homogenizer. You can lose up to 2 dB more by using a 'racket-buster' pipe tip as it emerges from the body.
Good luck- J DeRyke

We have very little room to plumb more pipes and turbos unless you give
up the boot area and your A/C.A A I was thinking about how the Pantera
has almost no room for mufflers anyway with these dinky 11 inch ANSA
cans with horribly inefficient baffling to quiet the poor thing down.A
Instead of mufflers, I think a heat shield and a couple of turbos would
be just the ticket! Probably just as ... ummmm... quiet.A Just 5 or
6lbs of boost and you might be able to get away without an
intercooler.A Or fill the whole trunkA up with intercooler.
For your A/C, has anyone looked at the compressors for hybrid or
electric cars?

I'm not sure about power since you can conceivably tap 320 AC RMS from
the mains but it might just be 24V.A AC could be relocated to the
frunk.
