[DeTomaso] Did Ford make a 400 for the Pantera?

I know that there was a 400 with a small bell-housing pattern for the
FMX, but it still used the normal 400 motor mounts. But this guy claims
it was not this engine.

The complete comment was:
---
400 FMX, should be a D1AE block. That’s the name that was given to it
because of the trans that backed it. Also, in ‘73 Ford produced a 400
with the small bell and dual motor mounts designed for the Pantera
---

So he clearly is differentiating the FMX 400 from the special Pantera 400.

Mike, ever heard anything about this?
