[DeTomaso] New Tires

Dear John,


               My experience follows.

               Pantera One goes to the track from time to time.  It was running a nice sticky set of Kuhmo Excstas.  255-50-17 in the front and 315-35-17 in the rear.  I wore out the rears.   No more Kuhmos Excstas in the my size.   I did buy a Sumitomo HTZ, IIRC.

                 I found that the combination of a sticky track type tire in the front combined with a more conventional street tire in the rear, made the previously "stuck" handling decline with a sensation of the rear being looser than before just with driving con brio.   I have raised the rear tire pressures in an attempt to stiffen up the rear sidewalls.   It is better, but it does not duplicate the characteristics of the matching rear 315 Kuhmos.    It is a compromise in this era of tire famine for Pantera owners.

Forest, thank you for the response. 

I was able to find both sizes, but was wondering if these would last more than maybe 2000-3000 miles of street driving, and the reviews say that they are quite loud. 
Anywhere to find “street” tires in these sizes? I know that these are DOT, and “could” be used on the street, but...  

Thoughts?

Tire Rack shows 245/45/16 in Toyo proxes T1R and 315/35/17 in sumitomo HTR Z. I could not find both sizes in the same tire.

I'm looking for new tires for my P.


They are: 


Front - 245/45/ZR16


Rear - 315/35/ZR17


Any suggestions? What kind and where to buy?


The only found so far are "track" tires.... 


TOYO

PROXES R888R & Hoosiers at TireRack.


I doubt I'll ever track my car, so..... 


Any help would be greatly appreciated.
