[DeTomaso] Starting Problems

My car has been sitting for 4 years.
I siphoned the old the gas and charged the battery.
Engine turns but won't fire.
Couple shots of carb cleaner, car fires right up idles rough for a 
minute and finally runs nicely.
Start the car up 4 hours later, no problems,
Try to start the car the next day... Engine won't fire (needs a shot of 
carb cleaner again).

I am guessing that something in the carb is gummed up with old gas or a 
carb gasket has dried out. Not allowing the carb to prime itself for a 
first firing.

Should I start with taking out the carb, or is there something else I 
should look at first.

Carb is a Holley 750cfm, 4 barrel, mechanical choke, vacuum advance, 
single metering block.
