Yes, unless the Director is a personal friend of yours, absolutely never let a film production "rent" your car from you.
 
More than one classic car owner has told me he thought it would be fun because they would allow him to hang around on the set during filming.

One guy told me he watched them wreck his car and a few months later he got a check in the mail from the studio insurance company.  It covered the car's replacement cost but.....  = (
 
When they say "We only need it for a parking lot scene", (or other such calming nonsense) this means nothing.  The prop guy is under the gun to secure what the production needs and will tell you anything to get it.  Once you sign their contract, the studio is entirely off the hook for what happens to it and you have no say in what they do with your car.
