[DeTomaso] Adjusting front hood latch

Jim, Larry,

No, it is not in the latched position.

Here is a photo I just took of an unlatched hood latch.

The V-shaped piece in the foreground with the spring attached is the boinger which pops the hood slightly open when the release lever is pulled. The U-shaped piece sticking up at a 45-degree angle in the rear (with the bottom leg longer) is the actual latch, which rotates and captures the pin to hold the hood closed. The pin is SUPPOSED to go into the middle of the U. If yours isn't opening quite far enough, the pin will hit the upper outside edge of the U (on the short leg) rotating it down and latching the latch with the hood pin sitting on top of it. 

Cleaning and lubrication will likely resolve your issue.
