[DeTomaso] De Tomaso mock ups sell for realistic prices

A quick Google search provided a news article stating that 1,500 2004-06 Gallardo's were recalled for fire hazard related to the power steering issue Mike cited. Yes a 2012 article, but as we all know stigma's tend to be hard to shake off....
A more recent article states; "Until the Ferrari 458 Italia came around, the Lamborghini Gallardo was the undisputed king of supercar fires."

Mike,
Ok so you are just generalizing because you heard of someone having a
problem and now you assume it is a huge problem for all Gallardo's.
("bursting into flames" with little provocation)
I did a Google search and didn't find much. In addition, I am very connected
to the Lamborghini world and have never heard of a problem with Gallardo's
bursting into flames.
I thought you actually had information about a known problem that Gallardo
owners should be aware of and apply some sort of fix...
As ASA would say, "never mind"

Scott,
It's a thing they like to do. A friend had his go up because a power
steering hose burst and sprayed the exhaust. But they have several failure
modes.
Do a Google image search and you will see a bunch!

clay or plastic mockup, but I'm not positive about that. You're right
though--if it was a genuine body it would have had considerable worth,
especially if it could be mated to one of the several burned-out Guaras that
are out there. (Guaras had defective fuel line plumbing, not unlike
Lamborghini Gallardos, and have shown an unfortunate propensity to burst
into flame with very little provocation....)
