The HT leads should not leak like that and it should not need further 
insulation even if contacting metal

this could be caused by a break up the lead or at the plug- if it cant 
ground at the plug it will seek next easiest route to ground

so i would replace the leads  and plugs involved and see what happens then

if you drive it light that it will wash the cylinders involved dry of 
oil and cause excessive wear fairly quickly

In my collection of parts, I have "spare" Pioneer single CD capable models (removable face plate) that proclaim in the instructions not to mount them above about a 45 degree angle!
