[DeTomaso] hose clamps

This isn't some new thing, it's been around quite a while. Also tackles the safety wiring nicely as well. Seems to have multiple uses which I like.
I'm pretty sure if it was cutting into wires, hoses etc..., off shore boaters, rodders, off roaders would have done something different years ago.
Screw clamps can also cut and I feel doesn't provide as good a seal around the entire circumference. I suppose if you overdo it, anything may cut, but I watched a guy do his custom rod hoses with it plus other stuff using different size gauge wire available. There seems to be a fair amount of info from a variety of users, mechanics, racers etc... plus some videos out there about it.
As far as access, you need only pass the wire around the hose before using the tool, but there could be interference issues with the tool or a screwdriver, socket I suppose.
The Gates hose end connectors look cool, but only has one use, and I've seen how folks have used the clamptite to fix other stuff besides hoses when away from home, so I'll probably always have some clamps on hand, but if I also have a tool that can not only do hoses, but also provide other uses as well, may as well have one handy. So many choices! :>)

I'd worry a little about wire cutting into some types of hose?

After some discussion round the shop: Both systems (gates and
clamptite) would require good access all the way around the hose.
Imagine trying to repair a leaking connector pipe on the road? IMO the
clamptite is sexier, while the gates is more resto-mod. The clamptite
seems like would be more prone to failure by the wire cutting the hose.

Conclusion? Stick with a good quality worm drive clamp. A couple in
the tool box should cover any on the road leak.
