They all physically interchange. The 1971 inserts were cut apart and modified in the USA prior to delivery, and they are smaller inside. The 1972-on inserts are the newer design, differing from each other only in detail (later ones have a molded in tie down for for the spare tire retainer).

A 72 insert should be fine for your 73.
