I agree with AJ...street tires in 15 inch at the right tire diameters
of the early Panteras are hard to find. The closest to 1972 specs for
a 15 inch wheel are the Hoosier TDS and Avons race tires. Neither are
   streetable for every day use.
Intersting observation: the later year tires stock were much smaller
diameter than early years. AJ, what size Proxes did you run????
Btw....we are still running the wheel and tire combo you had for the
Silver State for my son-in-law....who is doing basic open track. That
was a nice set up short of racing, but I can't use it for vintage.

Jut to add to Steve's thoughts,
For what it's worth, I ran Proxes R888 on the 7" and 8" stock
magnesium wheels for a couple of years. In my opinion they looked
goofy on the rear (and really threw off the speedometer). The
front's look okay but the rears are too small. They are great
tires, but their profile is way too low, with an overall diameter
drastically reduced from stock in the rear and they just don't fill
the wheel well. Kinda makes the car look like a roller skate, or
     skateboard (take your pick).

If you just need street tires, I think there are other options that
would look a lot better, but they won't be rated for high speeds in
excess of 140 MPH or so.
For racing in the Silver State, I bought 17 and 18" wheels and then
put good z-rated rubber on that met the same stock diameter. You
can see a photo of that here:

If you like the Campy's (and who wouldn't), I would encourage you to
invest in a set of vendor supplied Campy clones in a larger
diameter, probably 17 and 18. If I had the money, I would go for a
set from Marino Perna of Pantera East.
     Just my two cents,

Happy to share, and hope to get more involved as I progress with
     AJ's
Pantera.A I promised him it was in good hands!
The files are a bit personalized for my need -- vintage/hill
     climb
racing -- if you have any questions, please just email or call
     me.A I
am more than happy to get on the phone and walk through the

     up and
         recirculate -- I didn't label things very clearly.A
I was looking for two options:
          1. First, tires to run on 7 (front) and 8 (rear) inch rim sets
     (for
             proper vintage).
          2. Second, tires to run on 8 (front) and 10 (rear) inch rim
     sets (for
hill climbs, NASA, SCCA ITE, less proper vintage). A a
I gave options for "streetable" track tires, DOT race tires, and
         vintage-approved race tires.A For now, I am experimenting.A So
     please
         excuse mistakes. A
