I purchased a KPH speedo from Hall to replace my MPH speedo.
As an added benefit my "mileage" went down by about 30,000 to 0. I just got a new car !
Julian summarized the challenges associated with having the speedo read correctly as there are a number of drive, speedo and tire size issues that have to be dealt with. Our 71-74 cars drive with tires sized somewhat different than the originals. To correct the speedo error, I installed an inline speedo gear drive. To get the right ratio, I drove 100 kilometers and looked at the odometer reading for that distance. Then taking 100 and dividing it by the odometer gave me the gear ratio I needed for a kilometer reading.

Patrick,
It is certainly do-able as my GT5 was an Euro import and the
speedometer changed from kph to mph. Hall sells a Euro kph faceplate.

Some things to be aware of that I learnt from trying to get my speedo
to read correctly;
There were 2 manufacturers of angle drives VDO and Borletti and both
available in mph (1:1 ratio) and kph (1.1:1 ratio). These are matched
to two different speedos one is 1600 rev/mile (kph version) the other
1200 rev/mile (mph), so if you have the US speedo & drive and insert
the kph faceplate the indicated speed will likely be off from actual.
This may be further compounded if you have non stock wheels and tire
diameter.
You could measure speed with a GPS, mark where the speedo needle is and
have a custom faceplate printed to match. Another option is use of an
inline gear reducer to correct the offset, these are fairly common and
readily available.
There are also options available that convert an old speedo to a modern
GPS unit.

Is it possible to convert US speedometers ( in miles ) to the original
European "face" in kilometers ? Does anyone of our favorite vendors
sell
these ?
Thank you !
