[DeTomaso] What says the 'Collective' about a 'Slugger'

Hmm, how did the original compressor fail?
I have heard that if it "came apart" there can be bits of metal left all
over the system which will quickly destroy a new compressor's valves...or
worse.
FWIW, no personal experience.

Subject: [DeTomaso] What says the 'Collective' about a 'Slugger'

Have been having trouble with my air in my LS powered RX-7. I have
been through 3 different mechanics and compressors in the last 2 years.
A good friend and retired mechanic mentioned the other day I might want
to look into a 'Slugger' in conjunction with my next compressor and
dryer install. A 'Slugger' is a small electronic device to vary the
ground and applied voltage to a compressor on initial start of the
compressor. He claims that the oil will build up and drain back into a
low mounted a/c compressor after it sits idle for a while. The same
location as a GM LS install and also a Pantera.

Was wondering if anyone had used one of these devices and if it has been
successful or not?

Have had consistent problems with the air in the 'P' cars but hasn't
been attributable to the compressor.

They are only about 35 bucks on e-play, so I am thinking about trying to
save the valves in the new compressor.

Just wondering?
