[DeTomaso] Cover for battery dropped under floor

Acrylic needs to be firmly backed up with something firm to drill into. If
you exit through the plastic very slowly you might be able to use a metal
cutting drill. A metal drill has too much ³hook² on the cutting edge and
should have a little negative rake ground into the tip to ³ream² its way
through the plastic.

Polycarbonate scratches easier and absorbs moisture easier than Acrylic.
It might whiten over time absorbing the acid fumes, but it will drill a
lot easier, but you need to deburr or chamfer the edges so it can¹t find a
stress point to crack from.
