Hello everyone,
This AMX/3 in question was known as the Monza.
Because this one was used for the top speed aero design check outs at Monza.
It reached close to 170 mph.
It belonged to my friend of 45 years who was also my first boss in 1969.
He had it in my concours events three times and owned it for about 15 plus years.
He sold it last year through a Carmel broker to the German buyer.
I saw it at 2016 Pebble in its new gaudy paint color.
Flying back to Louisiana I saw my friend, the last owner as we changed planes in Dallas and showed him pictures I took of it. We also spoke yesterday about what he sold it for.
My friend had also shown the car at Pebble back in 91 or so.
Even at $ 891,000. the new owner would have been lucky to have made a profit considering his cost of car, shipping and restoration.

Here it is in 2009 and 2011.
In the background is Piero Rivolta who came over and is speaking at a Grifo.

I threw in Piero's Varedo for comparison which was sitting next to the AMX/3.
