Guys

I am looking at ways to prolong the life of my old cars including a very
good Pantera well treated for rust

any opinions on the alum alloy anode idea , commonly used on yatchs

i found the below piece online - are there items on the market that
might work or should i consider putting a block of aluminium alloy on
the floor pan

regards owen cooke

      Automobiles

Several companies market electronic corrosion control devices for
automobiles and trucks^[36]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathodic_protection#cite_note-36> and
questions remain about their effectiveness without adequate scientific
testing and validation.^[37]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathodic_protection#cite_note-37> In 1996
the FTC <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Trade_Commission> ordered
David McCready to pay restitution and banned the names "Rust Buster" and
"Rust Evader."^[38]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathodic_protection#cite_note-38>

The Auto Saver System underwent new and independent laboratory testing
in 2007, commissioned by Innovation, Science and Economic Development
Canada
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innovation,_Science_and_Economic_Development_Canada>.
The test was conducted by an ISO
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Organization_for_Standardization>
accredited laboratory^[39]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathodic_protection#cite_note-39> under
government oversight to ensure full legal and regulatory compliance, and
was designed by an independent corrosion engineer from McGill University
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McGill_University> and NACE
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Association_of_Corrosion_Engineers>
member^[40]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathodic_protection#cite_note-40> to
determine if The Auto Saver System inhibits corrosion in vehicles.^[41]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathodic_protection#cite_note-41> The
results clearly demonstrated that The Auto Saver System significantly
inhibits the natural corrosion process occurring in automobiles,^[42]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathodic_protection#cite_note-42> and
have been validated by leading corrosion engineers and scientists^[43]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathodic_protection#cite_note-43> in the
United States and Canada, as well as by the Government of Canada.^[44]

   Guys

I am looking at ways to prolong the life of my old cars including a
very good Pantera well treated for rust

any opinions on the alum alloy anode idea , commonly used on yatchs

i found the below piece online - are there items on the market that
might work or should i consider putting a block of aluminium alloy on
   the floor pan

   regards owen cooke

  Automobiles

Several companies market electronic corrosion control devices for
automobiles and trucks^[1][36] and questions remain about their
effectiveness without adequate scientific testing and
validation.^[2][37] In 1996 the [3]FTC ordered David McCready to pay
restitution and banned the names "Rust Buster" and "Rust
   Evader."^[4][38]

The Auto Saver System underwent new and independent laboratory testing
in 2007, commissioned by [5]Innovation, Science and Economic
Development Canada. The test was conducted by an [6]ISO accredited
laboratory^[7][39] under government oversight to ensure full legal and
regulatory compliance, and was designed by an independent corrosion
engineer from [8]McGill University and [9]NACE member^[10][40] to
determine if The Auto Saver System inhibits corrosion in
vehicles.^[11][41] The results clearly demonstrated that The Auto Saver
System significantly inhibits the natural corrosion process occurring
in automobiles,^[12][42] and have been validated by leading corrosion
engineers and scientists^[13][43] in the United States and Canada, as
well as by the Government of Canada.^[14][44]

I haven't found the need to dim speedometer lighting.

Charles...
you realize the LEDs will not "dim" proper with just the original rheostat
reducing their voltage, you would need an LED dimmer to pulse the voltage.

I only used one per gauge for the lights on function, however I can highly
recommend them. I went with virtually no speedo and tach (other gauges
switched for VDO) visibility at night for years as the incandescent bulbs
did squat and LED's were only marginally better.? These provide a bright
crisp light.

bulbs in the speedo/tach Hi all I'm at work and in kind of a hurry for the
answer... If I would like Santa to bring me some shiny, new LED lamps for
the speedometer and tachometer, how many do I need per gauge?

2 per gauge, right? Hard to tell from the Pantera Electronics photo, since
it looks like they are also replacing some of the warning lights in the
speedometer. All I'm looking to do is to be able to see the gauges at night.

Thank you!

you realize the LEDs will not "dim" proper with just the original
   rheostat
reducing their voltage, you would need an LED dimmer to pulse the
   voltage.

I only used one per gauge for the lights on function, however I can
   highly
recommend them. I went with virtually no speedo and tach (other gauges
switched for VDO) visibility at night for years as the incandescent
   bulbs
did squat and LED's were only marginally better. These provide a
   bright
   crisp light.

I am looking for a roof mount aerial antenna for a GTS.

Does anyone have one for sale?

Or maybe one on the shelf that I could borrow/rent to make a copy if you don't w
ant to sell? Obviously I'd pay shipping both ways and could leave some sort of d
eposit.

All radio?s were dealer installed options, so there was no one radio or
antenna that was used.

Emiliano,

I presume you are looking for the European-market style GTS antenna ?
(Factory installed on many cars.)

See the registry, Pantera 4275 for a photo to review.
4275 is getting updated right now, and should be complete in about 5-10 minutes,
but the antenna photo is from an earlier 'sharing' so it can already been seen.

But before you get your hopes up, I am not sure this style is available anymore
either.
I'd like to find one myself!

I realise this is no help but I bought my roof antenna at the de Tomaso factory
when we attended the de Tomaso Love In in 1996.
It was REALLY nerve racking to drilling that hole in the roof.

Really pleased with the antenna even though I don't have a radio!

Actually, there appears to be a ?factory correct? antenna.

The roof mount unit, listed in bright or black finish, appears on page 67 of the
black cover with red GT5S parts catalog.

Suspect it is a common-to-the-era Italian part found on Fiat or Alfa Romeo?

...except for the 1970s Euro GTS. Those normally came with radios and the factor

But when speaking about 1971-74 US cars (Including the US GTS), yes, you're righ

Hey everybody,

I lost all my interior lights for some reason. Other than checking the fuse (du
h) is that anything else I should
look for? I won't get to this project until I get back after the new year, but
I'm making a checklist.
PS - The electrical system is stock and old, but never had any issues serious to
date. The only past issue as the
dashboard lights dimmer never worked.

If any one would know which fuse to check on a 1974 #7104, that might help also
. ;-)

Thanks in advance for any help.

I had this sort of problem crop up with my oil gauge! It was horrifying!

I went back to my fuse block and inspected all the terminals. Some
had corrosion, so I wire brushed them off. Some had loosened from the
rivets, so I restruck them.

But this is temporary at best. It *did* fix the problem but the block
is 45 years old. I'm going to keep maintaining mine but for best
safety and best reliability *upgrade* to a modern fuse block.

I shall suffer alone I hope :)
