For instance the car was a 73 yet its first UK registration was 1980 hence the "W" on the number plate. I was able to establish that the car was in Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands which has its own car registration system to the rest of the UK but that doesn't explain why the UK registration authorities gave it a 1980 registration when the title cleared stated 1973 ????

I wrote to Granada TV studios, the makers of the programme, a number of times enquiring about this but they never responded to my letters. However the white colour, matt black deck lid, original black interior and number plate on top of bonnet looked identical to the car in the programme. Also at a club meet shortly after I purchased the car a guy came up to me to say he knew my car from filming the Cuckoo Waltz as he was a sound engineer on the actual programme itself. The star of the show Gavin had his own number plate on the programme GAV 1N so we were also never able to confirm it from the number plate.

   Hi Mike
I will try and dig out some old photos showing the car when I purchased
it and prior to it going wide body and send them to you.
I bought the car in 1986 and it was converted to GT5 spec by me in
1989. I then sold the car in 1999 before Geoff bought it in around
   2002 I think.
Chuck is right in that there is a grey area surrounding the early years
of this car. I was unable to trace these missing years successfully
myself when I owned it. For instance the car was a 73 yet its first
UK registration was 1980 hence the "W" on the number plate. I was able
to establish that the car was in Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands
which has its own car registration system to the rest of the UK but
that doesn't explain why the UK registration authorities gave it a 1980
registration when the title cleared stated 1973 ????
I bought the car from a dealer in Manchester who told me it had been
owned by a guy in Lancashire and this was confirmed on the log book.
However the old log books only stated the previous owner and not the
date when it was purchased unlike the latest ones.
I remember the filming of that video, it was at Castle Coombe race
track in around 1990/1991 and it was me driving the car. Used to be
   called Supercar Test Days.
We were never able to confirm with certainty that this was the car
featured in the TV series "The Cuckoo Waltz". I wrote to Granada TV
studios, the makers of the programme, a number of times enquiring
about this but they never responded to my letters. However the white
colour, matt black deck lid, original black interior and number plate
on top of bonnet looked identical to the car in the programme. Also at
a club meet shortly after I purchased the car a guy came up to me to
say he knew my car from filming the Cuckoo Waltz as he was a sound
engineer on the actual programme itself. The star of the show Gavin
had his own number plate on the programme GAV 1N so we were also never
able to confirm it from the number plate.
   Cheers
   Mike
