Scott,

I pride myself on being reasonably well spoken, but you articulate yourself
better than most. I really enjoy reading your anecdotal soliloquies. They
bring a smile to my face every time. You should be considered for an
editing role in one of the club's publications, if you haven't been
already. Your well suited for it!

we were dragging the Queen Mary's anchor. That's one of my best

Well done! I appreciate the back story and I vaguely recall the
Gulfstrand association while talking to someone in the paddock. The
Pantera was extremely fast and was in 2nd place in the Can Am class
when it dropped out.A I was quite impressed by the tremendous flames
exiting the tailpipes whenever he let up.A It was the first vintage
race that I had attended and made me very proud to be a Pantera owner.

which he built back in the '80s. If memory serves, John built it from a
car that had been beaten to within an inch of its life. He did some
pretty serious engineering/development on the car, which was incredibly
fast, and balanced. John usually turned in lap times that were at the
top of the Riverside charts, even beating out several full-on race
   cars.

In 1990, I attended the Walter Mitty vintage races at Road Atlanta.A
The Pantera pictured in the attachments was very quick but retired
after only a few laps.A I believe the car was transported to the track
by George Stauffer.A Unfortunately, the picture that I have of the
car, I just took with my cell phone from an old VCR tape while playing
on my TV.A While the pic quality while playing the tape on the TV is
pretty good, snapping a pic doesn't work so well.A However, perhaps it
is good enough for someone to recognize the Pantera or the driver
standing on the rollback.A Where is this car today?A It was the first
Pantera that I had seen with 180 degree exhaust.
