[DeTomaso] Maserati and Pantera tail lights

Carello was the manufacturer of the tail light assemblies (bucket, harness and lens). Carello made a large variety of automotive products. Unlike US car manufacturers that made or had made their own designs, Carello sold their products to anyone.

As I was told, several years ago, more than 12 yrs, Carello mistakenly destroyed the molds for the taillights used on the Pantera. I think Maserati used the taillight more than any other manufacturers. My notes tell me the taillight was used on the Alfa Berlina, Lamborghini Espada, Maserati Merak, Bora, Khamsin, Indy, and Ghibli.

About 10-12 years ago I purchased about 60+ pairs of NOS complete assemblies. I have 1 set, remaining on the shelf. The molds were destroyed. I was told years ago, the molds would cost more than $60,000 dollars for Carello to duplicate. The cost is solely based on supply and demand. The NOS taillight assembly market is choked.

With many cars using the taillights and the original molds destroyed, the cost for NOS taillights will only increase.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Maserati and Pantera tail lights

Looks like the Maserati Merak and Detomaso Pantera have the same tail lights. Why they getting so expensive is more of these cars are getting restored.
