[DeTomaso] Lithium Jump Start Gizmo is this Real???

They work very well for jump starting your car and I have use it on #1382
and many other cars. But. You have to recharge them using the
manufacturer's instructions (usb charge on the ones I have seen) so they
will *not* take prolonged high amperage charging or run accessories long
term.

But they *could* do that in parallel with a high quality battery management
system or BMS. That's what makes the Lithium race batteries so expensive
and the cheap ones dont't have quality parts or prolonged testing in the
field. Most of the batteries say on the box to not use them in parallel.

There are commercial and open source BMS systems. They use a
microprocessor to measure the voltage of each 3.6V cell in the system and
its temperature millisecond to millisecond to bring all cells into
balance. If one of them is lagging it can add amps or shunt amps away. If
it goes bad it will become a resistor. In your power drill this just makes
it get hot or die. With a high amperage system like a starting battery or
an electric motorcycle it could overheat and catch fire if each cell is not
attended to individually and quickly.

Lead-Acid is a much more resilient chemistry for high amperage charging but
even those need to be handled with some care. They don't explode as often
as they used to but it's still a thing. Lead is very heavy and it only
lasts maybe 1/5th the number of discharges and recharges that Lithium does.

Good god, I am a boring person! Just buy a battery built for the purpose.
