[DeTomaso] Stoptech rotor scrape

  The mentioned "washer" is NOT a washer. This item is a splash shield that came on later 1974-1974 Panteras to address the issue of early front & rear wheel bearing failure due to water intrusion getting past the seal.
       There was a TSB about this as a retro fit onto early cars.

I immediately thought it was the rear stub axle spacer that rests on the backside of the hub. Number 8 in the drawing.

Something that has not been discussed is where this washer came from. John's car apparently did not exhibit this problem before he installed the new rotors.

I am wondering if perhaps the mystery washer was left over from another project and inadvertently got put into the mix?
