[DeTomaso] Magnaflux cracks - now what?

Larry,

Yes the rewards of my investment as an early supporter in the Tod Buttermore block back in 2008 will hopefully come to be realized soon. As an FYI Tod is still casting blocks (not Tim Meyer) to meet his obligations to those early supporters with 2 to go last contact, mine being one of them.

I have no idea what the current retail price of Tim Meyer's aluminum block is?

Julian

We are having this discussion now because I took my original block AND a standard bore 2-bolt block into the shop at the same time. I've told the shop to put both on hold while I gather information. It will be easier for them to sonic test two blocks back to back rather than doing one now and the other one (4-bolt) days later after I have received my fellow owners' guidance. The sooner I reach a decision the sooner additional prep work can resume.

We are having this discussion because I do not have all the answers, but collectively the wisdom of the Family should guide me to the proper decision.

We are having this discussion because I would like to retain that original 4-bolt block if possible. Sure, I could 'clone' another block by stamping the DeTomaso block number into it, but that is not my first choice.

We are having this discussion because as I noted, I have never heard of this failure previously and my block seems to have done a damn good job of exhibiting it. This discussion will add to our collective knowledge and may be useful for another owner sometime in the future.

We are having this discussion because as far as I know I cannot call anybody right "now" and purchase an on-the-shelf aluminum OEM-style block, because the Buttermore/Tim Meyer aluminum block is still not quite into regular production, and the knock-off copy by MME is not something I wish to support.

If anyone who jumped in on Tod Buttermore's project as an early supporter with a deposit, and I assume are thus still at the top of the delivery list for the Tim Meyer block, would like to sell their early purchase rights to me for the current retail price I would gladly discuss such an opportunity.

Aren't you on that list, Julian? ;-)

Care to help a guy out?
