Maybe cheaper than a repair?

  another block for my engine project.
  Just as food for thought, here is part of the response I received from
  Tim Meyer:

    Well....

    We have seen this before, and still ran it.

    But it would be in a lower power application.

    I would not call it junk, but depending on the power you want to
    produce

    I think I would put it on the shelf so you always have the number
    matching

    block.

    Build an engine with a good block and have fun with it."
