[DeTomaso] Air Conditioning re-visit

I don't wish to complicate anything, I was mostly just wondering,
because I thought I'd heard there was something new out there. I'm not
actually looking to work on an A/C, it's just a question that came up.

I know most folks have great luck with both the R12 and the R134a
conversions. But if a person were starting out with a non-working stock
system, is there a third option available and how does it compare to R12
and R134? I might be all wet here too, I just thought I'd heard there
was something new out there.
