[DeTomaso] Fwd: This list versus new POCA site

I spend my car time at 4 locations.

1. This list, which I love. This is the best group of car guys that I
know.
2. The Space City e-mail list, which I also love. Same quality of
people, but a smaller group.
3. http://www.fordfe.com. I¹ve always had a weakness for the Ford FE.
4. http://www.clubcobra.com.

I don¹t know that I care that much about e-mail list vs. forum. Both
work, and they both have pros and cons. I care a lot more that the
content is uncensored, unbiased, and that the participants treat one
another with respect.

www.fordfe.com is a very early style of web forum. It is simple and
plain, but it works very well. You can browse and search for free. You
have to register to post, but it¹s still free. I don¹t know how they get
their funding. I don¹t remember seeing ads, so maybe some of the members
pay the hosting fees to network54.

www.clubcobra.com is a newer style web forum. It has all of the bells and
whistles. It¹s tough to put a website together like this, and I have to
say this one works. I don¹t think there is a members only area. I don¹t
recall seeing anything about member vs. non-member. For what it¹s worth,
I joined the Cobra club just because I thought it was the right thing to
do, even though my membership dues may or may not support the club cobra
website.

I have also browsed www.viperalley.com and www.viperclub.org, which are
both very well done. I haven¹t been on those websites since I sold my
Viper, though.

The new POCA website looks great, but where¹s the forum link on the main
page? Wait - it¹s probably only available if you are a member. There¹s a
link for Rebuilding the ZF, but it¹s in the Members Only section too.
That¹s my biggest beef with the POCA website. It¹s pushing too hard to,
³Hey!! We have great content, but you can¹t see it until you pony up.²
