All,

POCA President Shortt recently posted, on this public forum, the following:

“...if you want to criticize from out in the field, please do, but know that your opinion's worth has direct correlation
to your contributions to making things better. What have you done lately?”

To say that Mr. Shortt is the most controversy-stirring POCA president in recent times would be an understatement.

In this thread, as in too many previous ones, Mr. Shortt has again demonstrated how such controversy is created.

In the interest of brevity, I will restrict these comments to my thoughts on just Mr. Shortt's above quoted posting. But there is so much more that begs response.

I, and I am sure others, read that posting as implying Mr. Shortt views the “worth" of a POCA member's comments, suggestions, criticisms, in turn compliments?,
as being dependent on that member’s “contributions” to POCA. Additionally, noting his use of “done lately”, the “worth” of such "contributions” are apparently dependent on when such “contributions” occurred.

That is Bullshit.

There are no extra POCA membership benefits, recognitions or privileges accrued by POCA members based on their historic or current levels of participation, organization, assistance or as Mr. Shortt put it, “contributions”.

Whether you joined POCA last month, or are one of POCA's Founding Fathers, each member’s voice has equal and valid “worth” in how and what POCA does.

Period.

Sincerely,

Larry Finch
