Rob,

There is more than one style of deck lid latch.

Using the DeTomaso Registry sit map I found:

www.provamo.com/Members/TechInfo/DecklidLatch.asp

In reviewing, I note that I do not have a photo of what it looks like
on the deck lid mounting face, with the deck lid latch part removed.

(You could add some pics for the next guy...)

I show a pic of my latch (red, ribbed deck lid) it is the cross-rod
with a washer brazed on either side to stabilize side-to-side movement.

You can see there are two "studs" from the deck lid that protrude.

I just checked my spare deck lid (ribbed) and it also has "stock", studs.
(or captured bolts).

Hope this helps... maybe a little.

Chuck

When I got my car back from the painters, I found they had removed the rear
striker plate on the hatch and could not reinstall it. Mine is an early
model deck with no center seam. The metal seems too thin to tap threads
into. When I got the car 6 years ago, the striker was always loose, so with
considerable effort I slipped the largest nuts I could through the access
holes and eventually got bolts to thread into them. Not a fun time.

Is the deck supposed to be threaded?
Are nuts supposed to be inside the deck lid?
Is there some trick to ease the insanity?

Inquiring minds and fingers less nimble than 6 years ago need to know.
