I use an apple time capsule for backups.  It is very easy to setup, plus it does wifi and is a mini hub.  It's more expensive than it should be, but it's worth it.

I've used it to restore files I accidentally deleted.  No malware problems since going Mac, so while it is supposed to do a full system restore, I don't know how well it actually works.
