I plan to use this product to replace the door plastic.

Hi all,just fitted a pair of new door mirrors and was in the process of
refitting the door cards when I remembered a piece of advice a friends dad
gave me forty years ago ( yeah I know) " don't put the plastic back on the
door behind the card as it causes condensation and inevitably corrosion"
What do you guys think, leave the plastic on or bin it?
