There is an often overlooked USPS classification for International packages.

“First-Class Package International Service”

Up to four pounds. Yup, first class, four pounds.

Size limits are no dimension over 24”, total of H+W+D must be 36” or less

This option can send a one pound package to NZ for under $25. S/H extra, of course. Four pounds would be under $60.

Draw back to Int. shipments is the need to take parcel to an actual USPS office - can’t drop of at satellite station or have carrier pick-up.
