[DeTomaso] Best stroker kit for a Cleveland

On the K&N filter web site there are suggestions on air filter area, and it looks like they think we need a lot bigger filters, like 100 sq in?  That would be about 5 inches high a for a 14 inch diameter filter.

I believe I have the standard Mustang version of the Blue Thunder
(angled carb pad).  I'll double check tonight.  Also, I believe I have
an earlier engine screen (it's all screen and slopes down at the
  window.
The air filter is a Hall drop base air filter with the cast aluminum
"Pantera" script lid.  I did try a stamped lid as well without success.
  Cheers!

  Garth,
WHICH Blue Thunder intake do you have? The standard Mustang version or
  the Pantera version?
I had to change to a different air cleaner to get it to fit under my
screen when I put new rubber engine mount donuts in. With the old ones
my existing Hall/K&N fit fine. I had to get a different, thinner lid
with the new mounts as it raised the engine a tiny bit....

  Uh, no it DOES NOT.
I have a Blue Thunder intake on my Pantera at the moment with a Holley
670 Avenger carb and NO carb spacer, and the drop base air cleaner does
NOT fit under the stock screen.
  Cheers!

Dan,

Excellent write up, but you forgot that of the intakes tested the blue thunder w
as among the best, and it DOES fit under the stock screen....
