[DeTomaso] Tom Tjaarda on Creativity

He should just give the narration and someone else could write it? Called collaboration.

Gentry Lee (JPL) did this with Arthur C. Clark on several books. Also collaborated with Carl Sagan's 1980 COSMOS.
Gentry is a VERY colorful character here on lab. Highly criticized for putting too much sex into his fiction.
I think he has been married 7 times and has 8 children (or is it married 8 times with 7 children. ;-) All boys.
Working with him is a hoot. 2 beer story.

Trying to compose my thoughts on the review of the recent released deTomaso book, I was trying to figure out how to express the desire for a book not documenting the people that are responsible for the Pantera, but could a book be about the development of the Pantera detailing the work of those people, more of an technical/engineering/design documentation.

Then reading the stories of meetings with Tom Tjaarda and how much he enjoys sharing the details of his work, I realized the only one that could write a book that would be of a highly technical aspect would be T Tjaarda. If he would undertake such a task, I would hope he could gather the recollection of the engineers he worked with.

I was also thinking if I attend Hilton Head event, what “item” would I want personalized by Tjaarda. I would think a reproduction of one of the construction drawings during the design would be my most lusted after.

Could POCA ask if he would?

Good Morning,

Tom has accepted my invitation to be a Special Guest Judge at the 2016 Hiltion Head Island Motoring Festival and Concours.
He will be hosting and judging a special Detomaso exhibit on Saturday and be a Special Guest Judge on Sunday at the Concours.
Additionally, he has agreed to come one week early and attend the Speed Classic races as my guest.

I will be seeking supreme examples of all Detomaso cars, we are limited to 12.

I would like a authentic factory racer, a GT5-S, a Targa, GTS, Pre L, L, L GTS, Deauville, Longchamp, Vallelunga and a Isis Race car.

The concours dates are November 5 and 6
the spped classic will be Oct 28,29 and 30.

If I can arrange enough Pantera Race cars, we will also have an opportunity for a sprint race each day.

additionally, I have invited the Aston Martin Lagonda, Fiat 124 and MB Pagoda owners to attend the car corral on Saturday, Oct 29th during the speed classic, I will be extending this offer to all Detomaso owners as well.
Drive your aforementioned car and get into the race for free that day.

Savannah is lovely in fall, if you can attend, please do, when the new website is up, we will post a registration area.

If you have a car suitable for the concours, please send info and lots of photos to me.
