Ed did you find out about the sound ?? I know exactly what it is. It's the
little splash cover located on the motor side of the flywheel. it is too
close to the flywheel and therefore it creates contact with the flywheel
when you depress the clutch. Remove the two bolts holding it in place and
check if there are small scratches on the flywheel. I am quite sure that
this is why you have the sound .This cost me a lot of cash. I had the
gearbox out 3 times and bought new clutch but the sound was still there. and
really this was a 5 minute job:(

A friend of mine just installed his engine and ZF into his Pantera and the
throw out bearing (at least we think) is making this noise when you depress
the clutch. Please watch video below for the squeezing noise and please let
me know what you think it might be.
