I agree completely and well said.
FB has a place as a medium and should be used, especially when we need to reach out
and promote. FB is brain-dead easy to use (why else would our grandma's be using it)
and the kids have long-since abandoned it. ;-)
It should not replace a solid, well designed and well managed web site, which will be our
gold standard for all things Pantera. Including, I hope, a knowledge-base of information
for those guys to will carry on with our cars long after we have left this earth. I know
Michael is working hard on that.

Glad to hear you are using big data analytics. I love Elastic Search. We have used Hadoop,
Domo and Splunk, but ES is the best. Kibana has been our dashboard of choice lately. With
all the issues with Curiosity we have been able to do analysis on TB of telemetry data since
landing in 2012. Really cool stuff.

This is really the rub. Facebook is not about you. It's not about
Panteras and it is not about distributing information. Any benefit is a
side effect. They want money and the advertisers not only contribute
through media buys, the information and analytics can be monetized and sold
to other organizations that would also like money.
I'm an avid (maybe rabid) Facebook user and the Detomaso presence on FB is
entertaining and rewarding. I'm glad it is there. But you cannot depend
on it as a way to distribute information reliably. FB needs to know what
you like but if you "like" something that doesn't mean you get more of it.
It means that they will try to guess (though their analytics) what else you
will "like" and test your answers to see if it fits a model. If they guess
right by presenting the different items and you *do* "like" or "click" or
"comment" or "share" again, it doesn't mean you get more of it. They want
to *keep*building*the*model*.
In a very spooky coincidence, I posted this methodology on FB to my friends
and I got a FB recruitment letter 6 hours later (I'm a High Performance
Computing professional). Yiiiikes!
I love FB and I will continue to use it and I encourage a FB presence for
all POCA and other DeTomaso clubs. But do not *rely* on it for
distributing information.

I understand about the multiple posts, that would be my fault. :-)
I'm the guilty party. I'm a Facebook over achiever I've been told.
Myself, I Like a few 100 pages, not all Pantera related, a lot of
hot rod and chopper pages and other cool stuff. I get 1000s of posts
daily but they go to my newsfeed. The posts that are done across
several Pantera pages only go on your newsfeed and not on your own
page. There are settings in FB to allow or disallow posts. You can
limit the number. You can also subscribe or unsubscribe to which
ever pages you want to.
I feel multiple pages has been a good idea; to saturate FB with
Pantera stuff, this has in turn brought more publicity and
recognition to our cars and has increased value.
It's also brought a worldwide group of us enthusiasts together. Heck
I didn't know there was a Pantera Club of Japan or the likes of
Junika Okada and the awesome work he does over there.
The point of my email was to get folks on FB if they aren't already
and to ask each chapter to get active and promote their own FB page,
this has and will grow membership. That's the bottom line - grow and
get people interested. All the pages are there already (for the
chapters)
So yea I sometimes post the same message to many of the groups and
pages at the same time. So everyone does get it. All good, I'll try
not to cross post so much. ;-)
Lack of unity is Facebook, but Facebook is a tool to unite all that
love this car.
We even have a Twitter account I just don't have the time...
