[DeTomaso] Facebook

The front side markers, look like standard early style that have been relocated to the air dam, the rears are stock early style. Some of the tell tale traits mentioned are progressively found in the GT5 cars, e.g. my early GT5 has old style interior mirror, the parking brake in Ford location on passenger side and an early style heater console, not the later Maserati Bi-turbo unit. That all said I'd hazard a guess this is an early car converted.

Amerisport's were all GT5-S, some GT5's were brought in by George Stauffer (US) and John Scotti (Canada) and they have more of a raised 'add on' marker light like the photo attached.

The small rear bumperettes also indicate an early car, right?

The antenna looks wrong for a late car, and the interior mirror looks
like it might be an old style attached to the frame instead of glued to
the windscreen. Looks like it has the old grill ornament too.

Still it has some GT5 correct features, the hood grills, the door
mirrors, etc.

The Amerisport cars doesn't have the DeTomaso side grills either, AFAIK,
and those were GT5-S:es, right? Or was GT5:s also available.
