[DeTomaso] What is this thing?

Guys,

Hoping some old school hot rodders can help identify this thing that I found in a giant pile of Pantera parts from the 1970s:

The brand is 'Pulsar' and underneath it says 'Better electrically engineered products'.  It has a three position toggle switch. The wiring harness has four small wires (presumably two input, two output?) and the switch box has a ground wire. 

What the heck is this thing? The finned design would suggest its a heat sink--is this some sort of ignition device, or stereo, or ?????
