I think Lloyd Butfoy said the 3.20 (3..22?) ring and pinion were called La Mans gears.

I know that this has been beaten to death in the past, but seeing the GT/4
car made me think...

The Group 4 cars didn't use any sort of rear spoiler. I don't know what
speeds they did down the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans, but assuming they had
the Le Mans Gear (it's called that for something, right???) they should have
been well into or above the 165mph zone. 

Is a spoiler really necessary? If you really want to know what the scoop is,
you politely listen to the anecdotal evidence and listen to what the real
racers do...

Larry stock used a simple yet effective (according to him) spoiler that was
attached to the lip of the decklid. He can probably provide more input and
better photos.
