[DeTomaso] L bumper stops wind noise ?

Over on Facebook "Motorology" someone is claiming the L bumper in front stopped a wind noise / buffeting issue.
Sounds like malarkey to me, but I don't have pre-L to make a comparison to.
Was this ever a thing ?
